ERGO has further modernised its pension plan offerings with the launch of a new sustainable pension product at the end of 2020, ERGO Eco-Rente Chance. ERGO’s response to key social trends also opens up new opportunities for retirement Provision.

“With Eco-Rente Chance, ERGO is supplementing its broad portfolio of flexible pension plan products, proving that sustainability and a high-return pension plan are by no means incompatible,” says Michael Fauser, Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Vorsorge Lebensversicherung AG. “We are offering the product through ERGO Life. ERGO Life, whose business operations are fully carbon-neutral, has been a pioneer in the field of sustainability for many years.”

Planning sustainably for retirement: Eco-Rente Chance
Sustainable and climate-friendly attitudes have become firmly anchored in many areas of our lives. Everyday routines for an increasing number of Germans include an awareness of the environment when travelling, making ecological shopping choices, and maintaining a resource-saving lifestyle. ERGO Eco-Rente Chance is directed at individuals for whom sustainability is a serious concern – and one that influences their decisions on investment and retirement provision. For their personal investments, customers can choose their favourites from a range of 28 top sustainability funds. These include the MEAG Nachhaltigkeit fund. The funds make allowance for environmental and social aspects, as well as sustainable governance criteria (ESG), such as climate and environmental protection activities, and efforts to ensure fair pay. With ERGO Eco-Rente Chance, customers can also flexibly tailor their retirement provision to match their particular circumstances. They can switch funds, for example, as many as twelve times a year at no additional cost. The product features also include free annual rebalancing and a high level of flexibility in terms of premium payments, withdrawal of capital and the annuity start.

Sustainable insurers
The product provider and risk carrier is the ERGO subsidiary, ERGO Life, which achieved fully carbon-neutral business operations at an early date through the use of green electricity, and by switching to electro mobility and reducing plastic waste. In addition, all investments in the ERGO Life actuarial reserve are invested sustainably. The company also involves itself in local projects to promote all three ESG aspects.

“The partnership with ERGO Life, the exclusive use of sustainable funds and a sustainable actuarial reserve are three of the product advantages with ERGO Eco-Rente Chance that is exemplary within the German market. This gives us a pioneering role in a segment that is highly relevant to use,” explains Michael Fauser.
