Making insurance easier: DKV’s new budget tariffs

Media Information, 05.10.2023

Since October, DKV, one of the leading collective insurers in corporate health insurance, has been offering a new budget tariff with four different budget levels. It thus continues to expand its already broad spectrum of corporate health-insurance products.

DKV MI Budgettarife

In order to attract qualified candidates and keep them on staff long-term, companies need to offer attractive benefit packages. A key element in this regard are budget tariffs in company health insurance, which allow employers to offer their staff simple, comprehensive products with more flexibility and a broader selection. Staff are provided with a predetermined annual health budget and are free to decide which benefits they will use it for: some might choose the glasses supplement, others might prefer a cleaning at the dentist. This makes the insurance a hands-on, individualised experience for every staff member from day one, and has a palpable effect, binding staff to the company long-term

“We want to use our budget tariffs to continue to grow our market share in the company health insurance segment”, said Frauke Fiegl, Member of the Board of Management at ERGO Deutschland AG responsible for health business. “We are launching a very attractive benefits package.” With the new DKV tariffs, employers can offer their staff annual budgets of up to €300, €600, €900 or €1,200 in covered benefits. The benefits include LASIK, alternative medicine, or various dental benefits such as prophylaxis or dentures. Other potential benefits are, for example, vision aids, hearing aids, vaccinations, preventative training courses, or medical check-ups.

Companies with ten employees or more can choose the budget products via a group-benefits policy. As with other DKV corporate health-insurance products, the budget tariffs do not require any health checks. “All pre-existing conditions are covered, which means that every staff member has immediate access to all the medical benefits,” said Frauke Fiegl. Employers pay a flat monthly premium for their entire staff. If a policyholder changes employer, they have the option of maintaining the policy, and family members can be covered as well.

Digital solutions make the products easy-to-use for everyone involved

For companies, when choosing a corporate health-insurance package, the key criterion is – in addition to good quality at a reasonable price – to keep their administrative costs as low as possible. Both the companies as well as their staff and distribution partners will profit from the low costs. Employees can be included into the DKV’s group health policy simply by using the dedicated portal. Changes that occur during the term of the policy – such as notifications about non-contributory periods – can be entered online.

Finally, the package is rounded out by the award-winning DKV app, which staff can use, for example, to simply and easily send DKV their prescriptions or medical invoices, or to access all their relevant health data in one place. A distribution support unit, set up exclusively for corporate health insurance, offers distributors ideal sales support in all distribution channels, and is tailored expressly to their needs. The unit falls under Nina Henschel’s division, Member of the Board of Management at DKV Deutsche Krankenversicherung AG, and responsible for partner distribution and collective health business.
