Having already signed the document “Diversity Charter” in 2008 as a commitment to an organisational culture of diversity, ERGO is once again expanding its commitment to diversity. As a new member of the employers' initiative “Charta der Vielfalt e. V.”, ERGO intends to play an active role in further intensifying the discussion on diversity in Germany and its sustainable anchoring in companies and society.

ERGO joins the Charta der Vielfalt e. V. as its 39th member company. The aim is to play an active role in the further development and implementation of the initiative.

“The acceptance and promotion of diversity in companies and in our society as a whole is perhaps one of the most important tasks of our time,” says Lena Lindemann, Labour Director and Member of the Board of Management of ERGO Group AG. “As a response not only to demographic change, diversity ensures continuity, creates innovation and enriches the way we all live together. As a full member of the Charta der Vielfalt e. V. association, we will work with other companies and institutions to consistently promote dialogue on this issue and encourage people to get actively involved in promoting diversity and thus equal opportunities and inclusion, and to network with each other,” says Lena Lindemann.

Nina Straßner, Co-CEO of the Charta der Vielfalt e. V. association, adds: “The future is diversity. Strong voices for diversity are needed for a sustainable and successful economy and for cohesion in society. This is what the non-profit organisation Charta der Vielfalt e. V., whose work is significantly shaped by its members, is committed to. We are delighted to have ERGO Group AG as a new member and an important partner for diversity at our side.”

The Charta der Vielfalt e. V. is the largest employer initiative for the promotion of diversity in companies and institutions in Germany. At the heart of the association is the “Diversity Charter.” This was launched jointly by business and politics in 2006 to recognize and include diversity in the work culture.

The aim of the initiative is to create an unbiased working environment and to ensure that all employees - regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and ideology, sexual orientation and social background - are valued.

Back in 2008, ERGO signed the “Diversity Charter” drawn up by the association with the obligation to realize the dimensions of diversity defined there within the company. ERGO has implemented this commitment continuously and with numerous measures. ERGO has firmly anchored diversity in its corporate strategy. It is also an important dimension of the employer promise.
