ERGO is a young group whose roots go back a long way. It was established in 1997/1998 as a merger of experienced German insurers.
1997 D.A.S., DKV, Hamburg-Mannheimer and Victoria merge to establish the ERGO Insurance Group
1999 Group asset manager MEAG and IT services provider ITERGO are set up
2000 Market entry in Italy, Russia, Poland and the Baltic States

2024  Since the beginning of 2024, the digital transformation of ERGO has been the responsibility of a newly created Board of Management department within the ERGO Group. ERGO Deutschland AG is responsible for managing the operational business, which was previously the responsibility of ERGO Digital Ventures AG.
