Study by FOCUS MONEY: ERGO rated best training company in the insurance industry

Institute for Management and Economic Research confirms top ranking of ERGO’s sales and office staff

Media Information, 12.04.2021

In a study entitled “Germany’s best training companies” conducted by the business magazine FOCUS MONEY, among around 12,000 companies between January and December 2020, ERGO was awarded first place for the insurance industry, after ranking second in the previous year. It scored top marks mainly thanks to its almost fully digitalised training programme during the coronavirus crisis.

This was already the sixth time that the Institute for Management and Economic Research (Institut für Management- und Wirtschaftsforschung; IMWF) carried out its study of in-house training programmes in Germany, on behalf of FOCUS MONEY. It rated training effectiveness, trainee remuneration and additional offerings, including “best-in-class” programmes. Workplace safety, work-life balance and staff management were further criteria taken into consideration. ERGO’s training programme for its office and field staff throughout Germany came out on top for the first time, significantly ahead of the second-place insurance company.

Dr. Ulf Mainzer, Labour Relations Director and member of the Board of Management of ERGO Group AG commented on the outcome of the study: “The training market has become highly competitive in recent years, which makes it even more important for companies to offer extensive training programmes to attract the most suitable candidates. In 2020, we faced particular challenges. We were obliged to almost fully digitalise our training programme due to the pandemic. This ranking proves how successful we were. It is clear confirmation of our staff’s impressive work.”

ERGO combined its tried and tested conventional training programme with various digital elements in 2020. This was only possible because all trainees were given the technology needed to alternate between the office and working from home – not unlike homeschooling. Webinars and online courses are now supplemented with personal on-site support by trainers in the specialist departments, regional head offices and independent agencies. In advance of the start of its training programme, ERGO conducted online-only training fairs. And the application process also took place mainly online.
