Together for diversity

ERGO at the Diversity Conference 2024

Diversity Konferenz 2024

ERGO is committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). By joining the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. in May 2024 and participating in the Diversity Conference 2024, we are actively shaping the discussion on diversity.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are important factors for business success and growth. In a diverse and inclusive working environment, different perspectives and experiences come together, fostering innovation and creative solutions. Diversity and inclusion are core values for ERGO. They are an essential part of our business strategy and firmly embedded in our culture and business processes.

In 2008, we signed the document “Diversity Charter” confirming our commitment to a culture of diversity. In May 2024, we further strengthened our commitment by becoming the 39th member of the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. association. We are actively involved in the further development of this important initiative, contributing to the discussion on diversity in Germany and promoting sustainable integration in companies and society.

ERGO at the Diversity Conference 2024

Membership of the Diversity Charter opens up many opportunities for us. It promotes the exchange of best practice with other companies and enables us to learn from each other. One example of this is the Diversity Conference, which took place this year under the theme 'Together for Diversity: Growing Together' from 18 to 21 November 2024. More than 500 participants met in person and digitally to discuss the key challenges and opportunities of diversity with 70 speakers.

The Diversity Conference addresses all aspects of diversity. This includes a focus on generations In a leadership chat, Lena Lindemann, Labour Director of ERGO Group AG, and Jutta Rump, Director of the Institute for Employment and Employability (IBE), highlighted the opportunities and challenges of different generations working together, and discussed the steps organisations can take to promote interaction between employees of different ages.

We covered the event on LinkedIn as well.

Our ongoing commitment to diversity

Our membership of the Diversity Charter association shows that we see diversity as an ongoing process, not a short-term project. For many years we have been striving to create a working environment where all colleagues feel valued and have equal opportunities, regardless of age, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, belief or social background.

We lead by example, as demonstrated by the many initiatives for which ERGO regularly receives awards. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and ERGO's future success are closely linked.

Diversity Charter

The Diversity Charter is an employers' initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions. More than 6,000 companies and institutions with a total of 15 million employees have already signed the Diversity Charter, and new signatories are being added all the time. The aim of the initiative is to promote the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in the German working environment. Organisations should create a prejudice-free working environment. All employees should be valued - regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and belief, sexual orientation and social background.
