Dorota Kaczorowska-Wieczorek, how did you start your career?

Gdansk University of Technology, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Master of Science in Physics; Halmstad University, Financial Mathematics, Master of Science in Financial Mathematics.

What is the best career decision you have ever made?

Team recruitment through intuition and by looking for people who fit into the team. I have created teams of great people who want to work with each other and enjoy it.

I am a Deputy Director in Actuarial Department responsible for IFRS and ESG Reporting.

Who is your personal role model?

My mother, a strong woman and at the same time very gentle and reticent, who raised me just by herself. She was both mum and dad to me, showed me the power of women and how she was successful despite many adversities - she was a high school principal for many years.

How do you switch off in the evening? How do you manage to balance your demanding work and private life?

In the evenings, I spend time with my family: My eleven-year-old daughter and my husband with whom I go for a longer walk every evening together with our dog. Talking with relatives and fresh air relaxes me after a long day at work. Before going to bed, I always read books or popular science articles.

What tip can you give women on their way to management positions?

Remember, gender doesn't matter, it's your knowledge and your work that counts, so don't be afraid to express your opinion and don't feel inferior to men who do the same job as you.
