World Bike Day

Good reasons to get on the bike

ERGO Team Stadtradeln

Healthy, affordable and environmentally friendly: that's the bicycle. To celebrate World Bike Day on June 3rd, the spotlight is on the advantages of the two-wheeled vehicle. The World Bike Day provides an extra incentive for the city cycling campaign “Stadtradeln”.

Strong team from Düsseldorf: This year, Markus Rieß, Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Group AG, took part alongside long-time sponsor Mark Klein and Head of Germany Theo Kokkalas. Esther Pollmann and Heinz Schmidt from ITERGO Düsseldorf also participated.

Getting on the bike for a sustainable lifestyle

"With more than 500 active cyclists, the “Stadtradeln” Team ERGO in Düsseldorf shows how important the cycling contribution to climate protection is to the company. In the overall ranking, we are in one of the top three places every year and this year we can achieve first place in the company ranking. You can still register your kilometers until June 8. Thanks to all cyclists in Team ERGO!", says Esther Pollmann.

In concrete terms: What are the benefits of the campaign?

"The City Cycling campaign “Stadtradeln” and World Bike Day bring to the spotlight why the two-wheeler is so important. Switching to a bicycle, and thereby avoiding the car, is a personal contribution to environmental and climate protection. However, it is also a very good opportunity to stay fit and healthy and thereby do something for your own well-being. That's why I think a campaign like city cycling is ideal for giving people a little nudge to get out of their comfort zone and leave the car behind," says Martin Franze, Group Manager at LKFMHH of ERGO Hamburg. In addition, he is head of the company sports division "Mountain Bike".

Given the promising results, hopes are rising that the “Stadtradeln” season will continue to be successful. At our sites in Berlin, Cologne, Nuremberg, Munich and Hamburg, cyclists can also ride kilometers for Team ERGO!
