Once again, ERGO has been recognised for its innovative strength. Following the awards in 2023 and 2024, our digital teams have received the German Excellence Award - this time for ERGO GPT, our Digital Factory, and the ERGO Tiny Map. Here are the details.

"Do you work digitally, innovatively and creatively? Then you are a driving force behind the economic revival. Show us what you can do!" With an invitation like this on the homepage of the German Excellence Prize, the ERGO digitalisers did not need to be asked twice this year, either. And they were successful. Yesterday, three of their submissions received awards in Hamburg:

  1. ERGO GPT: Although this in-house GenAI is based on OpenAI's language models, it is entirely hosted on our secure internal instances to meet the extremely high data protection requirements of the insurance industry. The pilot trial with 1,000 users was fully booked within just 21 hours, and now ERGO GPT is available to all employees in Germany, including sales teams, and is being actively used. The international rollout has already begun, with ERGO GPT also available at ET&S in Poland and India. More information about our virtual colleague can be found in the //next interview and on LinkedIn
  2. ERGO Digital Factory: Established in 2018, our Digital Factory is considered one of the engines of digital and agile transformation at ERGO. It serves as an incubator and enabler for new working methods and supports the design and implementation of digital services and products with cross-functional teams. Notably, it is not located within the innovation department but is integrated into the existing sales and operations & claims organization. This integration promotes collaboration and exchange between developers, architects, and specialists from customer service and product and service areas. More details and numerous examples of this unique collaboration can be found in the //next interview
  3. ERGO Tiny Maps: Right at the launch of the Apple VisionPro, ERGO was the first and only insurer to release an application for this headset. It allows users to interact with a virtual 3D city and experience a gamified learning experience about everyday risks and the appropriate insurance cover for each. By moving characters around in the 3D city or manipulating security systems such as traffic lights, users experience the value of home, car, supplementary health and professional indemnity insurance in a playful way and with a smile, and can find out more about them. This step into the mixed-reality world demonstrates our commitment to innovation and superior customer service. You can find more information about ERGO Tiny Maps at ERGO.com

“The digital transformation is the challenge for the German economy,” emphasises former Federal Minister Brigitte Zypries, who has once again taken on the patronage of the German Excellence Award this year. “I am convinced that start-ups, SMEs, and large companies must and will seize the opportunities of this upheaval.” An expectation that ERGO has likely fulfilled once again this year.
